Glan yr afon is a stylish and comfortable thatched holiday cottage in Ceredigion, within walking distance of the sea. Near to the famously unspoilt beaches of Ceredigion (Llangrannog, Penbryn, Aberporth, Tresaith) and the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast. Near to picture postcard pastel-painted seaside towns of (Aberaeron, New Quay).

Located in a 'hidden' valley, near an unpolluted sea, and bays where dolphins and seals swim. A short walk to the Wales Coastal Path. Next to a babbling brook which flows over a medieval ford, crossed by a weathered stone bridge. Clean air, and skies where red kites and buzzards soar.

A weathered limewashed cottage built of stone, clay and thatch. Restored to offer modern comforts, yet preserving vernacular styles, timeworn beams and stones worn smooth by the passage of time.

A retreat, a place to unwind, to contemplate. A basefor unspoilt beaches, great restaurants, and a historical landscape  - Yet easily accessible by road.

An ideal base for walking, for beach activities, for nature and wildlife lovers or just for re-charging your batteries! Walk from the cottage through the woodland to Cwmtydu National Trust beach (45 mins occasionally steep walk) and join the Ceredigion Coast Path.

Glan yr Afon is one of the best surviving, and prettiest, traditional West Wales thatched cottages. Located in the South of Ceredigion, (but within easy reach of North Pembrokeshire), and a short distance from the sea, the property is within a short walk or drive from some of the cleanest, most unspoilt beaches in the UK. Surrounded by 2/3rds of an acre of private gardens some terraced and planted, and its own section of river, it's truly a place to escape from the stresses of life!

Built over many years out of stone, clom (cob) and thatch, it was originally two separate buildings, dating from the 18th century or earlier (see history). However, comfort-wise it has been brought right up to date, whilst respecting the integrity of the building and the traditional techniques used!

Benefiting from two bedrooms, the cottage sleeps up to 4 people (1 king sized bed, and two full size single beds) in comfort, making it equally suitable for a romantic weekend away or a family beach holiday. There is full, 'smart' central heating throughout the property, with the exception of the upstairs bedroom which is heated by an IR panel.

Please Note: The cottage is next to a sometimes fast-flowing river, reached by a (often) muddy river bank, and the garden is not completely contained.  We welcome 1 small - medium sized dog by prior arrangement. Check-in are preferred on either a Monday or Friday  ( we may be able to be flexible off season)
