We know we are about Wales and the majority of our properties are here in Wales - but, when a friend asks to put his spectacular property on our books what could we say?! We were lucky enough to visit here again last year and were not disappointed in the slightest!

This Ancient Moorish property in Vejer de la Frontera, sits under the castle walls and has amazing views across the town to the Atlantic and Africa beyond.

Vejer is a quiet romantic town, situated on top of a fortressed mountain. The roads are cobbled (and mainly impassable by car) you can park up with ease. Walk around the many little lanes and streets to enjoy their independent boutiques, fabulous restaurants and little traditional bars. There are views from all corners of this lovely historic town across the valley and down to the sea in the distance.

This stylish Moorish house has an abundance of old world charm and character. It is built around a private courtyard, the property has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, dining room, study, sitting room, cellar a large roof terrace with views extending to Africa and a stone arched hallway leading out to the pedestrian cobbled streets.

The space

Casa Castillo is a traditional Vejer ‘patio’ house with rooms and staircase to upper floors leading off a traditional courtyard. The ground floor enjoys a magnificent entry through a stone vaulted cobbled hallway. Leading off the stone flagged courtyard are a classic old world kitchen (with modern appliances!), medieval dining room and an underground cellar cave with exposed stone work. The ground floor also boasts a study and a bedroom with adjoining bathroom. The stairs lead up to a spacious hall and a wooden balustrade gallery (overlooking the courtyard) which gives access to a sitting room and two bedrooms each with small bathrooms. The staircase leads to the top floor and the terrace off which is a bedroom and bathroom. The grand roof terrace is divided into two spaces with chairs, sun loungers and a dining table. The terrace has stunning panoramic views towards the castle, across the town, towards the pine forests and sierras, over the coast and on a clear day Africa can be seen on the horizon.

Unfortunately the house is NOT suitable for young children due to open tread staircases and low parapets on the terraces.

A welcome pack is included of; Tea, Coffee, Milk, Sugar, fresh Bread, individual portions of Butter, Olive oil, Jam, Cocoa, Fruit and Flowers. Amenities in the bathroom are included for the first day.

The town of Vejer de la Frontera is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Andalucía. A mixture of history, carefully preserved architecture, art, culture and magnificent cuisine make it’s location between the sierras and the sea an ideal getaway for rural and coastal tourism. The beaches of El Palmar or Cape Trafalgar are just a 10 or 15 minute drive away with a network of trails or beach walking linking up almost 20km. of pristine virtually undeveloped beaches and the Las Breñas Nature Reserve. Surfing, kitesurfing and mountain biking are other popular activities here while the Montenmedio Golf and Country Club is 13 km away. Alternatively simply relax and unwind walking through Vejer’s centuries-old streets.
